FisherNote — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data FisherNote collects through its mobile application and the website fishernote.com (together, the “Services”), how we use it, with whom we share it, and the rights you have. Please also read our Terms of Use.

1. Who we are (Controller)

The data controller is Elena Kaganovich, operating FisherNote. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at info@fishernote.com.

2. Data we collect

— Account data: your email address, first name, last name and country; optionally your city and phone number.
— Sign-in: you sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address; we store the technical identifiers needed to keep your account secure. We do not use passwords.
— Fishing data you create: sessions, marker and 3D bottom maps, notes, places and photos you add in the app.
— Location data: processed only while you use the app, to power maps and your fishing log. We do not track your location when the app is not in use. You can disable location in your device settings.
— Subscription data: the status of your FisherNote Pro subscription. Payments are processed by Apple or Google (see section 5); we do not receive or store your card details.
— Support data: the messages and contact details you send us.
— Technical data: device and app information, IP address, app/website logs, and crash reports (see section 4); the website may use strictly necessary cookies.

3. How we use your data

— To provide the app and its core features (maps, fishing diary, sessions, statistics);
— To authenticate you and keep your account secure;
— To activate and manage your Pro subscription;
— To respond to support requests;
— To keep the Services safe and prevent abuse;
— To improve the Services;
— To comply with legal obligations;
— To send news or promotional messages only if you have given separate consent (you can opt out at any time).

We do not sell your personal data.

4. How we share data

We share data only with processors acting on our instructions and where required by law: hosting and infrastructure providers; an email provider that delivers sign-in codes and service emails; Apple and Google (app distribution, subscription processing, and crash reporting); and our support tooling. Crash reports are sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics when the app crashes. They contain technical information about the error and the device (for example, device model, operating system and app version, and a random installation identifier) and do not include your name, email address or account details. Each processor may access only the data needed for its task and is bound to protect it. We may also disclose data where legally required, and transfer it as part of a business reorganisation.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

FisherNote Pro is purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Those stores handle the payment and tell us your subscription status; we do not receive your payment-card data. You manage or cancel an auto-renewing subscription through your App Store or Google Play account.

6. Your rights (including EEA/UK and other regions)

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data, and restrict or object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact info@fishernote.com or use the in-app controls. If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal bases for processing are: performance of our contract with you (for example, providing the app and your subscription); your consent (for example, marketing and location use); compliance with legal obligations; protection of vital interests; and our legitimate interests in securing and improving the Services. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Data retention and account deletion

We keep your data while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the Services. You can delete your account at any time — in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account) or via our account deletion page. After a deletion request we remove your account and associated data within 30 days, except records we are legally required to keep, which we retain only for the period required by law.

8. Children

The Services are intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we learn that we have, we delete it.

9. Cookies

The website fishernote.com uses only strictly necessary cookies required for it to work. If we add analytics or other non-essential cookies in the future, we will ask for your consent first.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy; the current version is always published on fishernote.com. If changes are significant, we will provide a prominent notice.
